Can Acne Scars be Removed?
Acne is a nuisance and not very helpful to know that everyone out. Acne marks can appear as a double punishment – first you had to suffer through the pimples, now you have marks that you remember them. Is there anything I can do?
The acne lesions or pimples are caused by hormones and by enlarged fat producing glands in the skin, which causes an increase in fat production and the presence of bacteria in the pores. Acne usually appears on the face, neck and upper body.
Acne occurs in different forms:
- Mild acne, which refers to the whiteheads or blackheads that most of us leave at various times (usually at the worst possible times, like right before the prom or school portraits)
- Moderately serious acne, which includes red inflamed pimples called papule and red pimples with white centers called pustule
- Serious acne, which causes the appearance nodules – painful cysts or lumps filled with pus – under the skin
The nodules are more likely to leave permanent marks than other types of acne. The more serious marks the most serious causes acne and the best way to deal with it is to get treatment as soon as possible after the acne appears. If you have nodules, see your doctor or dermatologist immediately. He or she will assess your acne and will probably prescribe some combination of topical creams or gels.
The doctor may also prescribe antibiotics, oral contraceptives for some teenagers who have acne (in some cases the hormones in birth control pills may help control acne), or another medication such as isotretinoin if acne is severe.
If you have a serious amount of marks because of previous outbreaks of acne, there are some things you can do. The newer method of treatment is the treatment of regeneration of the laser, which can be done in the doctor or dermatologist.
The laser removes the top layer of damaged skin and tightens the middle layer, making it look softer. This may take a few minutes to an hour and is not painful because the doctor numbs the skin first with a local anesthetic. Full recovery of the skin usually takes between 3 and 10 days.
Another traditional method for treating acne is dermabrasion, which uses a rotating wire brush or spinning diamond instrument to abrade the surface of the skin. As the skin heals, a new partner layer replaces the abraded skin. The recovery of the skin may take a bit more when using dermabrasion – usually between 10 days and 3 weeks.
Both types of treatment will cause the skin to become red and it can stay red for several months. Only you can submit to such treatment if you have an active case of acne at the time of treatment.
Depending on the seriousness of the marks, your doctor or dermatologist may also suggest a more mild chemical peel, which also takes place in the office, to help improve the appearance of scarred areas.
In some cases, your doctor may recommend surgery to remove deep scars.
Something you should not do to fight acne marks is to load your face with thin skins or lotions – this will not help and may irritate skin, causing red, and trademarks are felt even more. You should also avoid tanning to make the marks less noticeable – although the sun can make your skin look cleaner temporarily actually clog pores and can cause premature wrinkles and skin cancer later.
If you have a red or maroon in the face that appeared after he had a large grain, do not panic – will disappear with time, like you had scars on his knees after falling from bicycle as a child . But it may take 12 months or more – so it’s best to avoid these brands and for this you should avoid squeezing or popping pimples, whatever you feel tempted to do so.
