Types of acne scars
There are mainly three types of acne scars. The ice pick scars are strong, thin and gets its name from the fact that when present, are similar to what you would see if the skin had been cut with an ice pick. Although they are usually fine scars, can also be found deep in the dermis or subcutaneous layer.
Other types of acne scars are boxcar scar type is characterized by round holes and sharp edges. If these are relatively shallow, apply techniques such as dermabrasion or laser resurfacing to remove them. The last of the types of acne scars is rolling scar usually appears to have a laminated surface (hence the name) and are caused by skin fold with a subcutaneous layer beneath the surface.
These scars can be treated by breaking the tissue causing the skin to fold into place and is usually done through a procedure known as subcutaneous incision or similar methods. Other methods are being tested as well. However, when it comes to acne scars and many other ailments, the best treatment is really prevention. Therefore, it is important to refrain from touching or squeezing acne that has already been formed to help prevent chronic scarring in the future.
