Known as Isotretinoin or Accutane ® is a retinoid that inhibits sebaceous gland function and pharmacological applications in 5 to 1 mg. / Kg / day. It is used to treat severe or cystic acne.
Other trade names are Amnesteem ®, Clavaris ® or Sotret ® among others.
Formerly with isotretinoin, acne severe characteristics was treated by antibiotics such as erythromycin and tetracycline, these point to a factor of acne, the bacterium that produces Propionibacterium acnes, however over time the bacteria became more resilient and antibiotics will not functioned as efficiently combat.
Isotretinoin is a derivative of retinoic acid and dates back to 1982 by Roche, was a great tool for combating acne, is currently marketed by other pharmaceutical under new releases.
