This type of acne is characterized by the appearance of comedones, commonly known as blackheads and whiteheads. Comedones are created in the hair follicles, where hair follicles are filled and clogged with sebum secretions, accumulation of dead cells and the action of bacteria.
When comedones are open at the surface of the skin, they look black, so called black spots. When they are closed towards the interior, are white and slightly reddish.
